Do Not Use Barstow and Sons for HVAC/Plumbing/Electrical

They were bought out by F.H. Furr and have had a noticeable decline in quality in order to make the parent company more money. They recently cancelled on me twice last second when I took time off work for my appointment with them. The third time they finally came out and told me they don't do oil furnaces, so a third day of work missed.

I have been using them for years so it wasn't like they didn't have my information. Bottom line is if you are looking for service do not use them. Other friends have similar horror stories.

Question Dating in Annapolis

Hey everybody. I thought I'd ask this since I'd seen it asked by someone else and it seems worth trying.

It seems impossible to find any one to date here on any apps. I love this town and all the people here, but I'm not sure that I can stay for more than two years if I don't find anyone.

Do y'all know anyone who might be interested in going on a date either in Annapolis or the immediately surrounding suburbs? I'm a 22 year old gay guy and I'd love to find someone looking for something long term. Thank y'all so much for the time and consideration and have a good night!

Forest Drive is littered with signs lately. We could use the ROW guy again.

Experience with Howling Archery?

Need some arrows and work done on a compound. Anybody have any insights? I prefer to shop local so BassPro is out and it looks like this is the closest to the area. Should I look elsewhere or is this the best local (ish) archery shop for service and materials?

Any other suggestions?

Moving to Annapolis, where to live?

My partner and I (females, late 20s) might move to Annapolis, she got a job offer there. I am currently living in northern VA with my family and my office is there. I enjoy working hybrid, so I’d ideally still go into the office maybe 2x per week.

We are very active and do crossfit. We enjoy hanging out with friends but don’t drink/go to bars that much. We prefer quiet, walkable neighborhoods over living in the middle of a city, but we also don’t want to live in the sticks. We’d be renting, maybe buying in a few years. Ideally we don’t live on top of a shopping center or right on a highway.

What neighborhoods should we look into? Preferably on the west/NW side of Annapolis, as I want to have easier access to VA and she doesn’t want her commute to Annapolis to be more than 30 mins.

Would I be crazy to commute to Tyson’s 2x/week? (I would be able to avoid rush hour and drive at off-hours.)

Maryland hidden gems? Amazing food, unique boutiques & lesser-known local favorites!

My sister is visiting, and we're looking for a great place to spend a Friday shopping, eating, and exploring!

We're near Annapolis/Crownsville but open to other areas of Maryland. Ideally, we'd love several great spots within walking distance or a short drive of each other, rather than traveling all over.

**What we're looking for:**

🛍️ **Shopping:** Unique boutiques, independent shops, home decor, specialty stores, and hidden gems. Especially children's boutiques with unique clothing and gifts for her 4-year-old twin boys and baby girl on the way!

🍽️ **Food:** A HUGE priority! Incredible, flavorful food, whether it's a hole-in-the-wall, family-owned restaurant, bakery, or longtime local favorite. Quality matters more than anything!

✨ **Exploring:** Charming towns, walkable shopping areas, markets, interesting shops, and unique things to do.

**Our plans:**
- **Before 3 PM:** Just my sister and me.
- **After 3 PM:** My 5-year-old joins us.
- My sister is 7 months pregnant but can walk around just fine!

**What I'd REALLY love:** Recommendations you wouldn't necessarily find through Google! Lesser-known local favorites, tucked-away boutiques, overlooked restaurants, and places most people don't know exist. Popular spots are welcome too if they're genuinely worth visiting.

**Bonus points for specific combinations of nearby places!** Like "Shop here, grab lunch here, then walk down the street to this little hidden gem."

What are your favorite spots or areas that you'd recommend?
