What is your go to order at the underrated spots?

Price doesn’t matter—could be a hole-in-the-wall or a fancy night out. Just curious what’s actually worth it. Not just what’s written in magazines.

For context, behind our row of homes is a piece of land that separates our backyards from the backyards of the row homes behind ours. It’s become extremely neglected. The city comes through once a year to clear out the PILES of trash from illegal dumping and cut down the overgrown vegetation.

The area is also a fairly large encampment for some of the homeless population in our neighborhood. It’s littered with used needles and burnt tinfoil that end up all over our backyard, which is even more frustrating since we are a family with young children and would love to actually use our backyard for them.

I understand they’re just trying to survive, and I know homelessness/ drug issues in this city than what’s happening behind our homes.

The people living there burn trash that creates horrible fumes, like old tires, upholstered furniture, painted wood, etc. Even with our doors/windows completely shut, we can smell it in our home.

Nearly every winter, the fire at some point spreads to our row of homes. One year we had to stay in a hotel for 3 months while our house was cleaned/renovated from the fire. Another year we had to completely replace all our belongings just from smoke damage.
Now, anytime the fumes or the fire seem particularly bad, I report it. Sometimes the FD is helpful and extinguishes it.

Other times, they will leave without extinguishing it or sometimes just not respond AT ALL. I understand not every outdoor fire requires the same level of response, but I’m tired of waiting for another house to catch fire before they take action and breathing in fumes in the meantime.

At this point, I’m hoping to get some advice on how to get this situation handled or who else I can start reporting the issue to. The FD more often than not doesn’t take it seriously, the homeless outreach 311 reports all just stay open without ever closing, and I’ve even tried writing to our councilman, only to get a generic “I’m sorry you have to deal with that” email in response from his assistants.

I’m at my wits’ end. I can’t spend another winter panicking, trying to drag my children out of the house in the middle of the night, losing everything, and being stuck in a hotel all winter or breathing in the fumes.

I was bringing some boxes of books to donate in from Carroll County and expected to have to park a block or so away because Vineyard is usually full of cars. So I brought along my hand truck to haul the boxes. Didn’t need it. Polite young man motioned me into their tiny parking lot, another opened my trunk, and took the books. Took all of 3 minutes. My daughter asked me to find her a black on black City College Hoodie for Xmas this year. She says she saw a few at school and really likes it. But Herman’s doesn’t seem to carry it and we don’t know where they come from. She described a black hoodie with “City” written in the classic gothic font. But there’s no orange letters or accents. I mocked up a photo based on her description so you can get the idea. Anyone know where it comes from?

My dog is sick. Not a super emergency (yet) but urgent. I am mostly bedbound, cannot leave the house, do not drive, etc. I've contacted 2 mobile vet clinics that are unable to help me (HomeVets and Happier at Home). All the others I can find have broken links or no info. I'm in the county near Rosedale. Are there any other quality, full service mobile vets in the area?
