Did anyone else learn how to type on a keyboard in school?
I was born in 2001 and I remember being seven years old, going to the computer lab at my school and learning how to type.
We had educational programs that taught us stuff like resting our fingers on the home row, using the little nubs on the F and J keys for our index fingers, etc.
Was it boring? Extremely. But in hindsight, I’m very glad I wasn’t raised on a touch screen.

Whatcha listening to?
37 year old male from US. Removed from what the yoots are listening to. So what are you listening to? Not just asking zoomers but that’s what I’m most clueless on.
I’m surprised when young people I work with put on the music I grew up with, but at their age I was also jamming to 1970s music my dad grew up with.
I “listen to everything” but mostly bass music now. The Mountain Goats are my favorite band and I will bump anything Talib Kweli or Kendrick.
Edit: you all have better taste than me.

It’s my birthday today, but I feel unusually sad. Why have I always felt this way on my birthday?
Today is my birthday, and for some reason, I feel really down. I can’t even fully explain why.
The strange thing is that, as far back as I can remember, I’ve almost always felt this way on my birthday. It’s supposed to be a happy day, but instead, I end up feeling sad, empty, or just disappointed for reasons I can’t quite put into words.
I don’t know if it’s the expectations I have for this day, the feeling of getting older, reflecting on my life, or something deeper that I haven’t figured out yet.
Does anyone else experience this? Have you ever wondered why your birthday makes you feel this way, even when nothing particularly bad has happened?
I’d really like to understand where this feeling comes from and why it seems to follow me every year

Is anyone else desensitized to everything?
I am not trying to sound like some edgelord, it genuinely bothers me. I dont get scared or entertained by horror movies, when people tell crazy gross stories on the internet it doesnt baffle me or make me react, when horrible things happen to people that I know irl, or online, Im kind of just like "damn," but i dont have any strong feelings. I don't frequently watch porn and havent in a while, but not a single porn category/ video phases me (Im morally "grossed out" by things like ageplay, raceplay etc, but even so, Im just kind of like "ah hm thats strange" and i move on) It genuinely upsets me so much because I feel like I will never have a strong visceral reaction to anything ever again and it kind of makes me feel left out or something?? I dont know why this is occurring I don't feel like ive witnessed THAT horrible of events. The horror movie thing upsets me the most lol, I genuinely wanted to enjoy "Obsession" so damn bad but I was bored almost the whole time.
Anyways I hope some people can relate or maybe offer solutions or something idk.

why do we act like we have to love every hobby we pick up
i've noticed people get weirdly defensive when you try something and then decide it's just not for you. like someone will suggest a game or show and if you don't vibe with it after giving it a fair shot, they act like you committed a crime. when did casual interest become an all-or-nothing thing? is it just me or does everyone around you assume that trying something means you're committed to loving it forever?

What do I need to do to get any interest in living
My entire life was and is purposeless, I don't have any hobbies, nothing seems fun, I don't know how to talk to anyone, especially when I don't have any clue about anything because I'm dumb. I don't care about what will happen to me. There was and probably still is this stupid thing about me when I want to do something I want to do, I won't do it, because I'm ashamed of it (I'm talking about simple things like listening to music or cooking). My life is boring, like I said, nothing is fun for me. I don't go out because I probably have enormous social anxiety, I'm stressed almost all the time when I go out. I don't see my future. I'm thinking that I should not be born, I'm just a parasite. Of course I've had thoughts about ending myself, but it is not the way. I'm just an NPC. I could probably tell more, but who cares. So, how can I gain the ability to have fun with my life?

Not sure I'm well enough to work anymore, but I don't want to go on disability.
Lately I've been completely unable to function at my current job. I came to the conclusion that I hated it, so I found something new. Now, I'll be working somewhere with less flexibility but that is closer to what I have done for the majority of my career.
The thing is I constantly experience mental distress as a result of various experiences that are difficult to explain. I could tell you about the portal in the back of my head and how the entity sends me messages through synchronicities, but he's not doing that right now because he wants to convince me I'm imagining it. It makes it very difficult to believe my diagnosis.
I indicated on my pre-hire paperwork that I am disabled but I don't know how to broach the subject with my new employer because I'm not even sure what kind of accommodations I can reasonably request or even need.
I want to be functional and people think I'm doing well, all things considered, but I don't feel well or functional. I just hide it and downplay things because I don't want anyone to think I'm crazy. But I also know they won't believe me.
I really want to do well at this new job, but I'm afraid. I hope I haven't destroyed my life by giving up a job that was accommodating but that I hated and made me deeply unhappy.
Now the music is talking to me. What just came on Spotify. I swear it talks to me and it's talking to me now and that's exactly what I mean. Each of these lyrics is spot-on and I can't stop moving. I am losing my train of thought. See it's only just worse even then when I think I'm trying.
"It's not in my head. It's in my blood." like it's taking my blood and wants it. It's told me that before too. Or should I say He. I use both for him/it.
I'm so sorry. I don't know how to talk about it. I don't know what to do with anything but I just hope I haven't made a mistake and that I can do it.

You should be both overwhelmingly emotional and detatched in your life
Be emotional when it comes to love, when it comes to showing appreciation or gratitude towrads the ones you love. Be feeling when it comes to loss or sorrow or pain. Be felling when you need to be.
Be detatched when it comes to your work or responsibilities. As in act like a robot, you do things you don't like to do sometimes and you do them like you love em.
I find this simplifies life and makes even the hardest parts enjoyable yk?

trying to decide if i should quit smoking OUID (any advice welcome)
I'm at a point with weed where i smoke it to feel good BUT i do it so often that I'm starting to get concerned. While that hasn't really affected how much i enjoy getting high, I'm starting to want to just be consistently happy and not rely on weed as a pick me up all the time.
it concerned me the most when i tried to go without it for a day or two and it felt impossible to see my life without weed. i Realize this is a problem in itself but my biggest concern is...
WILL i be able to be happy regularly after becoming so reliant on marijuana?
Like i do it right after i get off work, right after im done getting ready in the morning on my days off AND im smoking all day on the days im off.
I'm confused because i want to believe that I'm "just one of those people that weed works for" but at the same time i think people that tell themselves that are lying to themselves because they're deep in addiction.
i still enjoy smoking it but i think my potential is being snubbed becuase im smoking it.
but at the same time im worried that ill still be the same person after i stop smoking.
so im finding it hard to tell if i should quit or not.

I want to be better at intimacy
I (f21, if that matters) made out with a guy about a week and a half ago. The guy himself was a pretty shitty romantic interest, but we made out, and I can’t stop thinking about it. Not because I miss him, although I will admit that he was physically very smooth. He was confident, and I liked that.
My issue is that when he first kissed me, I couldn’t help but pull my head away because I was so shy. I had no confidence. He mostly had to coax it out of me, not verbally, but physically. Obviously, that probably made for better flirtation between us, but after we were done, I felt really embarrassed. Even though he knew I wasn’t exactly experienced (at least not as much as him) I felt like he had the upper hand, and I think that stroked his ego. I don’t think anything else could have stroked it quite as much.
Idk what to do :/
Is it normal to be attached to clothes, I have an outfit that I rarely take off I've gone months without changing I feel naked and uncomfortable without those clothes they're comforting. Even when it's like 80 degrees I still wear them. Is this normal? Cause my mom says that I need to change constantly but she doesn't know how frickin uncomfortable it is to be in other clothes. And anytime I try changing I feel confident and comfortable for a few minutes but when I go out near other people I start to feel uncomfortable and I start panicking.

Am I the only one?
When texting I sometimes mistakenly spell some simple words wrong. I don't understand my brain. Is like it moves so fast than my fingers. Missing words in between sentences etc. And when texting you don't have the luxury to proofread every single sentence before sending especially on WhatsApp.
I once made a simple mistake when texting with a friend. I mistakenly spelt a super simple word wrong. I didn't catch it early to be corrected by this guy. Someone I perform better than in school. I was so embarrassed!!!

Im very curious about your opnion on this situation!
I have always had a very good life. Ever since i have been young, my family has given me everything i have ever wanted. So why do i feel so sad and feel like i lack the attention that i truly want? I never thought of making a reddit account until now and im sitting here writing this wondering if this is truly worth the time. I have never been fond of reading tweets and reading in general so here i go. When i was younger my family always made sure that they gave me everything i had asked for. Although my mom did not have a lot of money, she still made sure me and my sister had stuff. For some odd reason, i slowly drifted off and felt like i was not worth being there. If i can remember, these thoughts started when i was about 10 years old. This is also the time that I learned that i could tal to people online and tell them about my thoughts and feelings. I ended up online dating and nothing bad came out of it. Yes we would break up and i would be a little sad but i got over it. I also made some real friends along the way as i played roblox. I had many friendgroups, relationships, and even online "parents" i could look up to. In real life i was very normal and i would say popular so i was not sure why i was so weird. After my mom stopped paying attention to me and focussed more on my sister, i started learning about subcultures like shtwt, edtwt, and nsfw things like yaoi and porn. I also started talking to people way older than me and they would get me things on royale high and other roblox games. After that "era" was over, i moved to discord and joined problematic servers which got BOTH of my accounts banned. I know that is a good thing but after being in such egative communities for so long i feel that i had no one to talk to once my two accounts got deleted. I also started hardcore cutting myself as a way to cope.I am now older and still feel that i am not enough. I feel that i am ADDICTED to things that can ruin my future.
Has anyone else had the same problems or can they relate? i just really want to have someone be able to tell me what i should do. I have als started anxiety medication not too long ago and it has helped but what are things i can do in day to day life to make me feel better.

I isolated myself from the rest of the world
(24M) I graduated in july, this year, but couldn't find any decent jobs on my area. This fact let me severely depressed, so i decided to take an attitude. I decided to study for an exam for a Tech School. These last seven weeks, or so, i've been on the "cave mode". I barely leave my room, studying Math, Physics, subjects that are not my jolly ranchers. When i'm overwhelmed, i read a book i like or watch a movie, to rest my mind. I cut the contact with all my friends, including a girl i was dating, because i couldn't waste a single hour. The exam is at december 13th. I had other hobbies that i, unfortunately, also had to cut for a while, or else i couldn't dedicate myself enough.
The fact is that i'm not with energy. I'm bittered about my situation. It was a huge disappointment i had from life. I was defeated, and feeling like a loser. I'm fighting back and trying to overcome, or else i feel i'll be a loser forever, and i don't want it. All my family and friends are worried about me, because they noticed i'm quieter and absent. I cannot organize myself enough to have all this energy to do multiple activities at time. I feel easily overwhelmed. I'm also worried about my isolation, but i feel there is no way to succeed. My parents say "everyone has a lot of things going on , you need to leave your room for a while and socialize". They are not wrong, but i'm also feeling too tired and too much into my head to socialize. I would like to know how people can do multiple things at the same time.

An old friend has reached out. We fell out and I don’t want anything to do with them.
In short, this person had a profoundly negative impact on my life. Our friendship blossomed within a few years and she was my first queer friend during my coming-out journey. She was there for me during some significant life changes. However, her drinking problem caused deep-seated anxiety and depression. Recently, I was invited to a party hosted by someone she knows. She won’t be there but they mentioned she’s made positive changes like quitting drinking, adopting a healthier lifestyle and moving away. I’m glad she’s decided to improve her life. Despite this, I have memories of her making me feel utterly worthless. While I don’t want to share those memories, they truly affected me and have impacted my relationships. I’ve distanced myself from her mentally and I’ve become more intentional about letting people go. This chapter of my life is spiritually closed and while I can respect her reaching out, I simply don’t have the space to welcome her back in any way. I don’t know what to do.

I hate my life
No friends.
My family hates me. It's like I have a new fight with them everyday. My father wishes I was dead.
I'm too stupid to go to college.
I'm broke.
My job only schedules me twice every week or 2.
I've got horrible OCD, autism and probably ADHD.
I broke my glasses.
I dropped a knife on my foot and now there's a giant scar.
My old reddit account got hacked and deleted a few days ago.
I'm a disgusting goblin of a human being.
My other job I got fired from recently because my manager says I'm a shit employee.
I got horrible scarring in my stomach.
I made a post today that was supposed to be satirical about how my game with women sucks. Basically it was Grace Ashcroft from RE9 representing women and Chunk representing me. Obviously it's a joke. I don't talk to women. And I haven't asked one out since I was in elementary school. But everyone thought it was me confessing to being a stalker or something. They said I'm a Incel. They said I'm a creep. They said I need to touch grass. Saying I should stop making memes. They were mocking me and downvoting me. Saying that it's not funny and I'm a horrible piece of shit person. Maybe they're right. Every second I'm on this planet I waste oxygen that could've gone to someone else. Air. Food. Water. Time. All wasted on me. I didn't earn the right to any of these. I never earned the right to be alive. Over two decades of existence and I'm nothing but a waste of space. My father was right.

What is wrong with me?
For the past year, I've had the following (I'm 24):
- constant worries about my health and my parents and sister (specifically around ALS and cancer)
- hyper aware of symptoms and conscious monitoring and googling that I can't stop
- intrusive dreams about becoming a quadriplegic (or someone in my family) where I wake up shaking
- getting anxious about stuff like whether my twin's credit card will get approved and then when it does worrying about it getting lost in the mail
- replaying social interactions where I was socially awkward and trying to assure myself I didn't offend anyone
- after i leave the house I was babysitting at, I become concerned that the child passed in their sleep and wait until I get the call from them or police (ex. toddler brought a piggy bank into bed, I took it out and no coins spilled, but what if one did and she choked?)
- scared that my parents will stop breathing in their sleep or that they'll go into cardiac arrest and I won't be home
- suspicious when things are going well, feeling like something bad is going to happen
- anticipatory grief about my parents dying

When people say always stay curious.. doesn't have to be about serious things
Yes, it's good to know what you're saying, and Yes, you're always learning, Yes the mind isn't a cup that has a limit of filling .
But, if you find you feel you've searched to what you could, you've done your research, etc etc.. no one says you can't deep dive, something fun. Do a full plot outline of family tree in Harry Potter.. something.
It means, not ignoring the little twinkle or twinge, saying.. I wonder if.. Look that up. Find out. Don't have to do research about serious things, 100% of the time.. why are some eggs brown, others are white ?
Obvious answer might be, different chicken breed but You might've not known that.. look it up. No ones chastising your search history ..you can Google whatever, and not look like an idiot ..no one looks at that, except maybe your friendly neighborhood cia agent. But even then, he's probably bored half the time. Look up something interesting ! .. but not too concerning like, bombs, etc. And now I've used both cia And bombs, I'm on a watch list. If you never hear from me you know I'll be abducted. Thank you .

Having the clock go back really does something to me.
As it was time to fix our clocks a few nights ago, it felt like I was given a new start. I get why many people prefer summer saving time and the change is mostly in my head in my case, but there's just something about it. I'm ready to welcome fall while I brace myself for the winter.
That's really all I wanted to say. Have a peaceful fall season, everyone <3

Is anyone else just tired of the median people??
I just moved to a new town because i transferred colleges and i cannot stand a majority of the people that i meet.
So many guys are just trying to cope with whatever insecurities they have by being either an asshole or shallow; a lot of girls i meet are either just as shallow as the men here or just impossible to actually stay in contact with. I've had so many interactions with people in my classes that make me so confused with how some people there have actually made it this far in life. I don't know if this is a common thing to experience living in a college town but it is making it really hard to want to get to know really anybody.
Edit: i fixed the spelling of college ;-;

How can I fix myself at this point?
Picture this: 25 years old, almost 300 pounds, low self-esteem, and low ambition, in the tech field, which requires continuous learning, a drive to upskill, learn new technologies, and earn certifications.
That's me. I don't have the drive to roll out of bed; the only thing that gets me up is needing a job to live and a cat who needs to eat. I honestly think this stems from me being diagnosed with Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) five years ago, having my life turned upside down, and being told all the stuff you've been doing, like working out, boxing, powerlifting, and drinking tea, can end your life; it makes you not want to do anything at all. At 22, I got an ICD implanted in my chest in case anything would happen, and my limits became stricter; I wasn't allowed to lift more than 5 pounds, and the most I could do for cardio was a brisk walk, being told that broke me. I fully gave up and started eating fast food pretty much every day and spent my time playing video games and watching porn. Even though I had a girlfriend who wanted to have sex with me, I didn't feel like she should have sex with someone who's a slob and has given up on themselves.
At 25, I underwent open-heart surgery, and they cut out the thickness within the left side of my heart, which meant I was no longer under any restrictions and I could do whatever I wanted. But I've been living life as if I was gonna die anyway so I didn't care about my financial issues, health, or general self-care. I didn't think I would make it this far, and now I feel these bad habits and mentality have been rooted inside me, and I don't know what to do to break free of this cycle.
I want to get healthier; I want to get back in the gym; I want to get back into boxing and powerlifting, but I can't bring myself to do it now. I still don't have the drive to get myself a better job, even though I know exactly what I need to do to get one. These bad habits have ruined so much of myself, I hate it so much and I want to fix all of this.

I feel like a total failure. Hoow can i defeat this feeling?
I don't have anyone else to talk about this so here it goes. I am Turkish and in Turkey there is the yearly University exam. I took the exam three times and finally got into university. I was aiming for a really good engineering but my ranking wasn't good enough for one of the truly great engineering tracks in the really good schools so i kinda gave up on myself and got into medicinne instead, but now i feel like a failure. How do i defeat this feeling?

What was this supposed to mean?
Im laying in bed right now and a memory I had from highschool had popped up and made me question what and why someone I had known questioned this. During this time I remember we were having a group conversation about things going on since our highschool was relatively small, it was in regards to drama or whatever was happening. They asked me, ”Hey ___, why does it seem like nobody dislikes or hates you, or even have problems with you?” I am in by no means a saint, I know i am capable of hurting people just as people can hurt me, but in highschool i never really stuck around or put my head into drama, I just minded my own buisness. I follow the golden rule that you should treat others just as you want to be treated. I remember thinking at the time that it was such an odd question to ask because I didn‘t know what to respond with other than “i don’t think that’s true, i’m sure someone here has disliked or hated me for whatever reason” I’m not sure why this memory reoccured to me, but what could have been their motive or what did they even want to hear from me?
